Endovascular aortic stent grafting (EVAR) is a minimally invasive technique, which is increasingly used in the treatment of aortic aneurysm and aortic dissection. It is associated with lower perioperative and postoperative mortality compared to open surgery. Unlike open surgical repair, the success of EVAR highly depends on medical imaging assessment. Further, medical imaging techniques play an important role in the follow-up of EVAR in terms of monitoring the aneurysm changes, patency of true and false lumens in aortic dissection, and detecting complications associated with the procedure. Currently, CTA is the preferred imaging modality in both preoperative assessment and postoperative follow-up of EVAR.

Why aortic stenting is require ?

Your doctor may use a stent graft to treat an aneurysm or dissection of the aorta. The stent graft supports the weak area of the aorta and helps to prevent the aneurysm or dissection from bursting or rupturing. Stent grafts can also help to treat injuries that have weakened the aorta.

How long does it take to recover from aortic stent surgery?

You may be able to do many of your usual activities after 4 to 6 weeks. But you will probably need 2 to 3 months to fully recover. For 6 weeks, it is important to avoid strenuous activity and heavy lifting. These activities will not hurt the graft in your aorta.
